ILLINOIS (WREX)- Illinois bars and restaurants can now fill more than just pints after Governor JB Pritzker signs a law amending the Liquor Control Act.
House Bill 3610 allows any place that sells beer to serve on its premises to sell a growler or crowler.
A growler is a 64 ounce resealable jug, a crowler is a 32 ounce can that breweries use to serve to-go beer .
The new law says on-site retailers can fill growlers up to 128 ounces.
The container must have the name the beer, type of beer, who brewed it, who filled it and when it was filled on it.
Growlers or crowlers must also be purged with CO2 before it is sealed and must be properly sanitized.
The law takes effect immediately.
