The Illinois Licensed Beverage Association (ILBA) continues to fight for our industry.
Reminder: Liquor License Renewal Date:
Normally, liquor licenses expire on the last day of each month. Due to the hardships on liquor license holders because of the COVID-19 virus outbreak, state law has extended the renewal dates of State liquor licenses and deferred the collection of license renewal fees in the following manner:
Liquor License Renewals
- All licenses are extended through December 31, 2020.
- No renewal fees or late fees will be charged until December 31, 2020 (Renewal will be charged if you renew before December 31, 2020).
IMPORTANT: License holders do not have to wait to renew licenses. If a license holder chooses to renew a license when it originally expires or at any time between original expiration and December 31, 2020, the license holder may renew a license online at MyTaxIllinois.gov.
License holders are encouraged to renew licenses prior to December 31, 2020 in to order to avoid administrative delays at the end of the year. If licenses expire due to administrative limitations, there will be no further extensions granted.
IMPORTANT: License holders may not receive an additional notice to renew licenses. Even if license holders do not receive an additional renewal notice, all license holders are required to renew licenses and pay license fees no later than December 31, 2020.
Reminder: Expired Driver’s Licenses and ID Cards Extended Until Feb. 1, 2021
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced that expiration dates for driver’s licenses and ID cards have been extended an additional three months – from Nov. 1, 2020, until Feb. 1, 2021. This new Feb. 1 extension also includes those who have October, November, December, and January expiration dates. As a result, expired driver’s licenses and ID cards will remain valid until Feb. 1, 2021.

Hospitality Businesses may soon learn if their loans have become grants.

Hospitality Businesses that received funding from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) may soon learn if their loans have been forgiven. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) began processing applications for forgiveness on Friday, with some lenders already being forwarded funds to cover loans to restaurants and other small businesses under the $670 billion program, according to a spokesman.
Many small businesses that received funds have been awaiting word on whether their loans will essentially be treated as outright grants, with no need to repay the aid. Otherwise, borrowers will be charged 1% interest and expected to repay the principle, which could run as high as $10 million. Loans granted before June 5 carry a two-year term. Loans extended afterward, during the second flight of PPP funding, have a 5-year window. Repayment is deferred for six months.
