The Illinois Licensed Beverage Association (ILBA) continues to fight for our industry.Spring Session Illinois General Assembly 2022: On April 8th, the Illinois General Assembly adjourned early to return to their District’s to campaign for the Primary Election on June 28, 2022. The General Assembly passed a total of 419 Bills. The ILBA opposed and helped defeat many bad bills for our industry, such as, beverage container recycling and deposits, eliminating styro-foam food and beverage containers and many more. However, one bad bill in 2022 passed. In the future, hospitality industry locations will cease the use of latex gloves. HB209: Food Service BAN on Latex Gloves – Effective January 1, 2023 Amends the Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act. Provides that a food service establishment may not permit employees to use latex gloves in the preparation and handling of food. Provides that, to encourage compliance, a food service establishment shall receive a notification of warning for the first violation. Vinyl gloves, Powdered Vinyl gloves or Nitrate gloves are recommended. Due to possible allergy issues. Illinois Liquor Control Commission: For our beer producing members: Public Act 102-442 created the Beer production quantity reporting requirement (235 ILCS 5/8-10.5). The ILCC has integrated that reporting requirement into the MyTax system. Please see the attached instructions regarding the process. Additionally, the ILCC has posted this information on the ILCC website (https://www2.illinois.gov/ilcc/SiteAssets/Pages/Home/Brewer%20Production%20Report%20Procedure%20With%20PR%20Account%20Instructions.pdf) and it will be included in the Q1 ILCC newsletter.
