President’s Message

From 1936-1961 our predecessors named the organization “Retail Liquor Dealers’ Protective Association.” The country had just been through prohibition and businesses were hit with new state and federal laws, creating challenging economic times. Our retail industry forefathers fought to keep taxes and workplace rules fair and tried to find ways for their businesses to prosper.

Like those before us, the Illinois Licensed Beverage Association works hard to keep the business climate fair. The ILBA employs lobbyists in Springfield and has been in many coalitions to keep our business climate steady. With the State of Illinois in the red, nothing will be off the table when the Legislature convenes in January. If you are not currently, I ask you to consider adding your name and business to the many that already belong to the ILBA. The old saying “strength in numbers” is what our organization was founded on and it still holds true today.

Director’s Message

Dear ILBA Members and Partners,

As the Executive Director of the ILBA, it is my privilege and honor to work for this legendary organization at this pivotal time. Our industry faces opportunities and challenges requiring collaboration, innovation, and unwavering advocacy. Together, we can navigate the evolving regulatory landscape, ensure a fair and competitive marketplace, and safeguard the future of licensed beverage establishments across Illinois.

The ILBA has a long-standing tradition of protecting the interests of its members—small businesses that serve as the backbone of our communities. Whether through legislative advocacy, education programs, or networking opportunities, our goal is to empower you with the tools and resources to thrive in an ever-changing industry.

This year, we are focused on several key initiatives:

  • Advocacy: Continuing to represent your interests in Springfield, fighting for fair regulations, and opposing unnecessary legislation that impacts our businesses.
  • Education: Providing our members with top-tier training and resources to ensure compliance, promote responsible practices, and enhance profitability.
  • Community: Strengthening the ties within our industry by fostering collaboration and providing opportunities for networking and mentorship among beverage professionals.

Our success depends on the strength of our community. I encourage each of you to stay engaged, share your insights, and leverage the resources we offer. Together, we will continue to elevate Illinois' vibrant licensed beverage industry.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to working with you to make a lasting impact.

Sincerely,
Keith Wetherell
Executive Director

Some of the Bills have already become law, while others await the Governor’s signature. While we lost some battles, our positions were well represented in Springfield. We want to thank all of you that helped and attended our legislative functions. We would also like to thank the IGMOA for joining again with us on our Legislative Reception and Gaming Expansion efforts.
